Bookings/Reservation Tips:
It pays to book your accommodation well ahead, if you plan to visit New Zealand during the busy summer season, from Christmas to March. From Boxing Day (26 Dec.) until late January and again during the Easter holidays it seems like all Kiwis are out and about. Many overseas visitors opt for hiring a campervan, as staying at campgrounds offers more flexibility, but these too are booked out months ahead during local public holidays. Outside these peak times, you can be a little more relaxed, unless you have a tight schedule or a particular place you don’t want to miss. We prefer to book our accommodation for the first view days of a trip and then keep rolling them over, booking a few days ahead as we go. Then we follow the sunshine!
